A New Challenge
One week to NaNoWriMo! I'm looking forward to this new challenge and writing exercise. Can I really do this? Write fiction? I'm willing to give it a try. The aspect that intrigues me the most, I think, is writing with abandon, without the inner critic or a specific format, template, editor's guidelines, etc. I read so many good stories, I want to write one of my own.

More Research
Love it. I always find so many new ideas for writing. Now to write faster so I can work on all these ideas!

Where is the audience?
In a workshop this summer I heard that we as writers not only need to know who our audience is, we need to be with them. We cannot know them from afar, we need to be where they are, to go to them. In these current times, I believe we also need to consider their *needs* to truly learn about our market. That is, what information or entertainment will someone pay money for in tight times? What are their needs and wants? - and how can we meet those needs and wants? These questions can give me direction when I'm in-between projects. A little slow down is good, to refocus on what God is calling me to do.

This Season
This is a time for trusting, writing, marketing, researching, focusing, trusting, and writing some more. It's a time of waiting, to see what God brings next. Finishing one project (soon, I hope) and starting new ideas. Exploring new options.

Good days
Don't you love it when the writing and research and ideas all come together and you're able to whip out several pages in a day. Oh, for more days like that!

Fiction vs. Nonfiction
My writer friends get all excited about plot and characters and what will the characters do next - again today I thought of objectives (what do I want the students to be able to do, what do I think they should learn) and what fun ways can we do this?! I was talking with a student (I only have her for one class) about her other subjects, and I saw so many holes, so much more that could be added to the learning, and maybe she would enjoy the process more, too.
